Don’t Overcomplicate It When It Comes to Detailing
It almost seems like every time I look at my phone or browse a YouTube channel with content about detailing, there is always some new product or tool being talked about. Sometimes I’ll even come across of a whole new way of doing something. Really, it is just another reason to complicate the matter. While the latest and greatest things on the market may offer intent, is it really getting you the true results you are looking for?
Over the years for me, through the process of trial and error as well as testing different techniques , I still prefer methods of detailing that actually doesn’t make me feel like I need to spend a lot of money or possess a bigger vehicle or a trailer of stuff to get the same job done. I find this especially true when it comes to interior detailing. Once upon a time, I used to reply on lugging an air compressor around from job to job.
Then I realized that it was really nice to have for those ‘just in case’ moments. But it was never really necessary. If anything else, I found it to be very cumbersome to add to my routine and process. And in most cases I found these types of equipment to really slow me down. While at the beginning it may seem like I may not perform well at first without an air compressor, eventually I became more efficient and skillful at this particular task with simple brushes and tools a.k.a. elbow grease. Again, this is just one example.
So why am I telling you all of this? The point that I am trying to drive home to you is that you don’t need these so-called elaborate tools and equipment to complete the job. If you enjoy detailing your own vehicles, I would say, “Learn to appreciate the things you already have.” Later on, if you have the desire to upgrade or have the means to do add to your arsenal, then great. Carry on! But if it fails, at least you had already developed the basic knowledge to do the detail every time.
